Are you passionate about tackling homelessness and have experience in delivering homeless services? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you. You will work as part of a team, delivering the Council's statutory homeless function, and provide a front-line customer focused service, including the provision of housing advice.
The post if offered on a Fixed Term Contract / Secondment for 10 months. If applying for the position as a secondment, you must obtain your line manager’s approval before applying for the position.
This role requires a satisfactory basic disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
You will:
- Support the delivery of the Council’s priority objectives as expressed through the Corporate Plan, the Housing Strategy and the Homelessness Strategy
- Promote the values and principles of the Council in the delivery of services and engagement with our local communities
- To take a holistic view of the causes of housing problems and work with the customer and other agencies to help solve the individual’s housing problem, with the aim of identifying a long-term solution to prevent the problem re-occurring in the future
- Promoting the values and principles of the Council in the delivery of services and engagement with our local communities
- To contribute to the development of the service business and work plans
- Working collaboratively across the organisation to deliver services
- To contribute towards supporting the organisation’s continuous improvement and values and embed this within the culture of the organisation
- To contribute to ensure that services are based on an understanding of customer demand and designed to meet customer need
Additional requirements
- 1.1.Participating in the out of hours on call rota, taking and dealing with telephone calls as appropriate including arranging bed and breakfast accommodation as necessary.
- Provide expert housing advice to prevent homelessness and help residents secure suitable housing.
Experience in housing advice, social care, or similar advisory roles.
Strong negotiation, communication, and caseload management skills.
- Assess applications in line with the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Create tailored Personal Housing Plans and negotiate with landlords and agencies to resolve housing crises.
