We're now on the lookout for a Catering Assistant to join the team at a leading higher education facility, situated on the outskirts of Lewes.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of the main dining facilities, providing a high-quality catering service to students, staff and visitors. The role will also involve supporting café operations, meetings, events and functions across the site. Due to the location, having your own transport would be preferable.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the day-to-day operation of dining rooms, cafés and other catering outlets, including breakfast, lunch and event services.
• Delivering a friendly, professional and high-quality service to students, staff and visitors, while supporting the wider catering team during busy periods.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, including temperature checks, cleaning records, stock control and portion control.
• Providing flexible support across the catering operation, including events, functions, evening/weekend services and general manual handling duties.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a high volume hospitality setting;

• At least two years' relevant catering experience or a recognised catering qualification, alongside a current Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Passionate about good food and delivering an excellent customer experience, with strong communication and customer service skills.
• Friendly, approachable and professional, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
• Well organised, calm under pressure and flexible, with the ability to maintain high standards and work occasional evenings and weekends.
