An established and highly respected independent consultancy specialising in water quality and safety management is seeking a confident and technically capable Legionella Water Risk Assessor to join their team.

Operating for over 30 years, the business is UKAS-accredited for Legionella Risk Assessments and is recognised across the UK and internationally for delivering independent, science-led advice. The consultancy is built around a team of scientists and technical specialists, providing unbiased guidance on managing waterborne infection risks.

The organisation prides itself on its commercial independence, ensuring clients receive clear, compliant, and evidence-based recommendations without conflict of interest. Their work is particularly focused within high-risk environments, including healthcare.

The Opportunity

  • This role offers the chance to work within a specialist consultancy delivering high-quality risk assessments, reporting, and advisory services. The successful candidate will support clients in managing risks associated with Legionella, Pseudomonas, and other waterborne pathogens.
  • You will collaborate closely with senior consultants and technical experts, contributing to complex projects across healthcare and public sector portfolios.
  • What you will do
  • Within the first 6 months:
  • Conduct detailed risk assessment surveys for Legionella, Pseudomonas, and other waterborne pathogens
  • Following training and development, responsibilities will expand to include:
  • Developing Water Safety Plans, policies, and procedural documentation
  • Designing and implementing pre-planned maintenance programmes
  • Providing independent technical guidance on water treatment regimes
  • Supporting design verification, installation compliance, and handover processes for new builds and refurbishments
  • Managing complex and bespoke projects with a high level of accuracy and client focus

What you will bring

Essential:

  • Experience working as a Water Risk Assessor
  • Relevant qualifications in water hygiene, microbiology, environmental science, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific or environmental discipline
  • Experience working within healthcare environments
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with compliance frameworks
