Job Purpose |
Newport County AFC Academy is seeking a part-time U8–U10 Age Group Coach to deliver its coaching syllabus and support the holistic development of players within the Foundation Phase. This role plays a key part in providing a fun, engaging and age-appropriate learning environment to help players fall in love with the game. |

Role Responsibilities & Key Duties |

1 |
Promote Newport County AFC values and maintain a respectful, safe, and inclusive coaching environment for young players. |
|
2 |
Plan, deliver, and reflect on engaging coaching sessions in line with the Academy’s Foundation Phase curriculum and coaching framework. |
|
3 |
Use age-appropriate methods to support individual and team development (ball mastery, 1v1s, small-sided games). |
|
4 |
Record attendance and session notes using Academy systems (e.g., Football iP). |
|
5 |
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and contribute to regular development updates. |
|
6 |
Support the creation and delivery of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) every 6–12 weeks. |
|
7 |
Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff (coaching, medical, sports science, analysis) to support player needs. |
|
8 |
Ensure safeguarding and player welfare are prioritised at all times. |
|
9 |
Attend weekend fixtures, in-house festivals and CPD events as required. |
|
10 |
Uphold all Club policies including Health & Safety, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. |
|
11 |
Maintain training equipment and ensure high coaching standards across sessions. |
|
12 |
Undertake ongoing CPD in line with EFL and Club expectations. |
|
13 |
Assist with player recruitment and trial events when required. |
|
14 |
Carry out any other duties as directed by the Academy Manager or Phase Lead. |
