We're recruiting a VAT Senior Manager for a leading accountancy and tax advisory practice in Newcastle.

This is a senior, client-facing opportunity for an experienced VAT advisory professional to lead complex projects, manage key client relationships and support the continued growth of the VAT practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex VAT advisory and consultancy projects
• Provide technically robust and commercially focused VAT advice
• Advise on land and property, international transactions, partial exemption and financial services
• Lead VAT disputes, enquiries and negotiations with HMRC
• Support VAT litigation, tribunal matters and alternative dispute resolution
• Manage senior client relationships and act as a trusted VAT adviser
• Identify and develop new VAT advisory opportunities
• Support proposals, pitches and business development
• Work closely with legal advisers and wider tax specialists
• Mentor and develop junior VAT professionals
• Keep up to date with VAT legislation, case law and emerging issues

About You

• CTA qualified preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered
• Significant UK VAT advisory experience within an accountancy or professional services firm
• Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT legislation and case law
• Experience managing complex VAT advisory projects
• Strong experience dealing with HMRC
• VAT disputes, litigation or tribunal experience advantageous
• Proven client relationship and business development skills
• Excellent communication and influencing abilities
• Commercially minded, proactive and confident
• Strong leadership and mentoring capability
