FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support our Accountancy client in the delivery of a strategic enterprise-wide AI Governance Framework programme. This is a 6 month contract with good potential to extend and is a hybrid role based in London.

It is a high-profile transformation programme sponsored at CTO level, focused on establishing the governance, operating model, controls, and delivery framework required to enable the safe, compliant, and scalable adoption of Artificial Intelligence across the organisation.

Currently in the early stages of mobilisation, the programme will define how AI initiatives are assessed, approved, governed, implemented, supported, and managed throughout their lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a leading role in shaping the framework, engaging stakeholders across the business, and driving delivery of an ambitious roadmap through to implementation.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with proven experience delivering complex technology and business transformation programmes, ideally involving AI, intelligent automation, digital innovation, data platforms, or enterprise technology governance.

You will lead the successful mobilisation and delivery of a multi-workstream programme focused on defining the future AI governance landscape across the organisation. Working closely with senior business stakeholders, technology leaders, risk and compliance teams, legal teams, and operational functions, you will establish the structures, processes, and controls required to govern both existing and future AI initiatives.

The successful candidate will bring strong project and product delivery expertise alongside an understanding of the wider organisational considerations associated with introducing AI-enabled capabilities, including governance, change management, communications, service transition, support models, licensing, risk management, compliance, and business adoption.

This role requires a proactive and highly organised delivery professional who can confidently engage stakeholders from operational teams through to Senior Leadership and Executive level, challenge constructively, manage competing priorities, and drive progress within a complex and evolving environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading delivery of the enterprise AI Governance Framework programme from mobilisation through to implementation
  • Defining programme structures, governance forums, delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, and reporting mechanisms
  • Working with business, technology, risk, legal, compliance, HR, and operational teams to establish AI governance principles and standards
  • Developing frameworks for assessing, approving, onboarding, managing, and retiring AI initiatives and products
  • Establishing decision-making processes for AI investment, risk management, compliance, and operational oversight
  • Managing multiple concurrent workstreams and stakeholder groups across business and technology functions
  • Supporting the evaluation of existing AI solutions and determining suitability for future organisational needs
  • Developing business cases, delivery approaches, operating models, and implementation roadmaps
  • Establishing programme controls, risk management, issue management, dependency management, and change governance processes
  • Managing communications, stakeholder engagement, and organisational change activities across the programme
  • Ensuring AI initiatives align with strategic business objectives, technology strategy, and regulatory requirements
  • Working with architecture, security, data, and operational teams to ensure appropriate controls are embedded
  • Supporting the development of service management, support, warranty, and transition models for AI-enabled services
  • Producing executive-level dashboards, status reports, programme updates, and governance materials
  • Facilitating workshops, steering committees, design sessions, and senior stakeholder forums
  • Managing third-party vendors and technology partners where required
  • Driving programme delivery against aggressive timelines and organisational objectives
  • Identifying delivery challenges early and presenting practical solution options to senior stakeholders
  • Managing by exception whilst maintaining focus on outcomes, benefits realisation, and business value
