We are working with a leading fit out contractor specialising in the delivery of high-quality commercial workplace fit out projects across London. With an excellent reputation for delivering innovative, complex and high-specification workspaces, they are continuing to grow their team and are looking for experienced Design Managers to join the business.

The Role

We are seeking experienced Design Managers to take responsibility for the design delivery of commercial workplace fit out projects from pre-construction through to completion.

You will work closely with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and design stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards, on time and in line with the project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a strong contractor background who is looking to join a leading fit out business and play a key role in the successful delivery of exciting London-based projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team to ensure the design is aligned with programme, budget and quality requirements.
• Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and design teams.
• Review and manage design information, drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Identify and resolve design issues and ensure timely delivery of information.
• Ensure design compliance with project requirements, regulations and relevant standards.
• Attend design meetings, progress meetings and project reviews.
• Support the successful handover and completion of projects.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Proven experience working as a Design Manager for a main contractor or fit out contractor.
• Experience delivering commercial workplace fit out projects.
• A strong understanding of the construction and fit out delivery process.
• Proven experience taking projects through to completion and handover.
• Excellent design coordination and project management skills.
• The ability to work collaboratively with project teams, consultants and subcontractors.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• A track record of delivering projects within programme, budget and quality expectations.

Contractor experience is essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who have been directly involved in the delivery of commercial fit out projects, rather than solely working in a consultancy or architectural practice.
