At Stantec, we’re looking for a Bridge Engineer / Senior Bridge Engineer to join our growing Transportation team and help deliver the infrastructure that keeps communities connected.
You’ll work on a varied portfolio of bridge and civil engineering projects, contributing to the design, assessment and delivery of structures across the UK. About The Role:
As a Bridge Engineer, you’ll be involved in the delivery of bridge engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
Your work will include the design, assessment and analysis of new and existing structures, working across a range of bridge types and infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with colleagues across highways, transportation, civil engineering and other disciplines to develop practical, efficient and sustainable solutions.
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to projects for public and private sector clients, developing your experience across different project environments and technical challenges.
Your Impact:
- Undertaking the design and assessment of bridges and other civil engineering structures.
- Producing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
- Using appropriate design standards, guidance and engineering principles to develop robust solutions.
- Supporting structural inspections, assessments and investigations of existing structures.
- Contributing to feasibility, concept and detailed design work.
- Working collaboratively with engineers and technical specialists across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Supporting the delivery of projects to agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
- Liaising with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders where required.
- Contributing to technical reviews and helping to maintain high standards of engineering quality.
- Supporting the development of less experienced team members where appropriate.
- Taking an active role in your own professional development and working towards relevant professional qualifications.
About You:
You’ll be a motivated Bridge Engineer with a strong interest in structural engineering and a desire to develop your technical career.
You’ll have:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in bridge engineering, structural design or assessment.
- Experience using relevant design standards and engineering software.
- An understanding of the design and assessment of bridges and/or other civil engineering structures.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate technical information clearly, both in writing and verbally.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- A proactive approach to learning and developing your technical skills.
- Ideally, progress towards or an interest in working towards professional qualification with ICE or IStructE.
