FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Product/Business Analyst to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh (2–3 days per week in the office).

This role will sit within a data-focused team reporting to a Lead Technical Business Analyst and will play a key role in the delivery of data products across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can work across the end-to-end lifecycle of a data product, combining strong stakeholder engagement skills with hands-on experience working with data. You will spend as much time working with SQL and Snowflake as you will gathering requirements, shaping solutions and translating business needs into deliverable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and support data products that enable reporting, analytics and business decision-making
  • Write and optimise SQL queries within Snowflake to analyse, transform and prepare data
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable technical solutions
  • Define functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria where required
  • Produce data mappings and support the design of data models and data flows
  • Collaborate with development, reporting and product teams throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Support the development of Power BI reporting solutions and downstream data consumption
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, issues and opportunities
  • Ensure data products are aligned with business objectives and delivered to a high standard
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders across the business and act as a key link between business and technical teams
