Shirley Parsons is pleased to be partnering with The Royal Household to appoint a Head of Health & Safety. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced health and safety leader to take on a senior role within a unique, complex organisation, helping shape the future of health and safety across the Royal Estates.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, working closely with senior stakeholders and a specialist team to drive high standards, continuous improvement, and a proactive approach to health and safety.

This role will be predominantly based in London, but you will be responsible for all Royal Estates, including their sites in London, Windsor and Edinburgh.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and lead health and safety across a varied and complex estate. Combining strategic leadership with practical oversight, you will lead a specialist team and ensure a safe environment for employees, contractors and visitors, whilst balancing operational needs with the requirements of historic and public-facing settings.

What are we looking for?

• Significant senior Health & Safety leadership experience gained within a large, complex organisation.
• Proven experience operating in public-facing environments, including major events, visitor attractions, heritage sites, cultural institutions, venues.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, driving strategic Health & Safety initiatives across diverse functions.
• Proven experience of CDM regulations and supporting capital projects, refurbishment programmes, estate developments, and construction activities.
• Strong understanding of project risk management, construction safety governance, and the integration of Health & Safety throughout the project lifecycle.
• Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), ideally coupled with safety related degree qualification.
