About the Role

Are you an organised, confident, and dedicated Cover Manager looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed Cover Manager to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective running of daily cover arrangements. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the school’s daily cover arrangements for planned and unexpected staff absences.
  • Allocate cover supervisors and available teaching staff to lessons, ensuring appropriate cover is arranged across the school day.
  • Organise and maintain accurate daily cover timetables, making adjustments where required.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to staff absences, ensuring lessons continue to run smoothly.
  • Communicate daily cover arrangements clearly to teachers, cover supervisors, support staff, and relevant members of the leadership team.
  • Monitor staff availability and identify suitable resources to ensure effective use of available cover staff.
  • Provide cover supervisors and staff with appropriate lesson plans, resources, registers, and relevant information.
  • Liaise with teachers and departments to ensure suitable work is available for lessons being covered.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff absence, cover arrangements, and any changes made throughout the school day.
  • Support the school in maintaining high standards of student behaviour and engagement during covered lessons.
  • Deal calmly and professionally with any issues arising during lessons and escalate concerns to the appropriate member of staff where necessary.
  • Assist with general administrative duties relating to cover, staffing, timetabling, and school operations.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, department heads, and senior leadership to ensure effective daily organisation.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and organised when working under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • The ability to respond quickly and confidently to unexpected staff absences and changes.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff at all levels.
  • A proactive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to daily challenges.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • A commitment to supporting a positive, safe, and well-organised learning environment.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
