Senior Principal Electrical Engineer - Water Sector

We’re looking for a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing Water team in Derby, Birmingham or Redditch. This is an opportunity to take a leading role within our EICA capability, influencing technical delivery, supporting team development and working on nationally significant infrastructure projects.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where you can:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting delivery from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning.

You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes, providing technical governance and guiding project teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. Working closely with Project Managers, discipline leads, clients and supply chain partners, you will act as a trusted technical advisor while helping to strengthen Stantec’s Electrical Engineering capability.

You will also play a key role in developing others through mentoring, knowledge sharing and supporting the continued growth of our teams across the Midlands.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with leadership capability and a collaborative approach.

Essential:

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional registration.
• Significant experience delivering electrical or EICA engineering solutions within complex infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary design projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering design, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience producing and reviewing deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, Control Philosophies and technical reports.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence clients, stakeholders and project teams.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers.

Desirable:

• Experience working within the UK water sector.
• Background in utilities, energy, infrastructure or other regulated industries.
• Experience leading technical workshops, design reviews and HAZOP processes.
• Experience supporting bids, frameworks and client relationships.
