The Shipping Coordinator/Material Handler plays a key role in supporting operations by accurately sorting, tagging, and moving materials in a heavy industrial environment. This position requires consistent attention to detail, strong basic math and measuring skills, and the physical ability to handle and lift heavy materials while maintaining a safe and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for shipping out materials and tracking orders.
• Gather material that needs to be sorted and transport it safely to the melt shop.
• Maintain clear segregation of red-tagged and yellow-tagged material within the melt shop to ensure proper handling and processing.
• Properly tag all material that has been sorted, following established procedures and identification standards.
• Ensure any material that has not been checked receives a red tag before it enters the melt shop.
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the scrap area, keeping walkways and workspaces clear and organized.
• Use basic math and measuring skills to verify quantities, sizes, and specifications of materials as needed.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures appropriate for a heavy industrial environment, including proper handling and lifting techniques.

Essential Skills

• Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment.
• Comfortable with heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Good measuring and basic mathematical skills.
• General labor experience in roles such as material handler or construction worker.
• Ability to read and understand basic English instructions and safety information.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid drivers license.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Florham Park, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
