Job Title: Quality InspectorJob Description

The Quality Inspector performs dimensional inspections on aerospace components, sets up and operates basic inspection equipment, and determines part acceptance or rejection based on established requirements and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards. This role supports other departments by accurately recording inspection results and contributing to quality control and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections on aerospace parts, including linear dimensions, hole size, outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), and related features.
  • Independently set up inspection equipment and fixtures for a variety of dimensional checks.
  • Interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspections.
  • Analyze facts and circumstances surrounding individual inspection problems to determine whether parts meet requirements.
  • Make clear and accurate acceptance or rejection decisions for parts based on inspection results and specifications.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other mechanical inspection tools to verify part dimensions.
  • Review and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand inspection criteria and tolerances.
  • Perform inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) when required, for more complex measurements.
  • Record inspection results in an organized and accurate manner to assist other departments in their analysis and research.
  • Support quality control processes by identifying nonconformances and communicating findings to appropriate teams.
  • Maintain inspection tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues that may affect measurement accuracy.
  • Follow established inspection procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of quality inspection practices.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to independently set up basic dimensional inspections, including checks for linear dimensions, hole size, OD, and ID.
  • Basic understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency using mechanical inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Capability to analyze inspection data and make sound acceptance or rejection decisions.
  • Ability to read and write clearly to document inspection results and communicate findings.
  • For senior-level consideration: 5+ years of experience in quality inspection and demonstrated CMM experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in an aerospace quality control environment.
  • Hands-on experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for dimensional inspection.
  • Familiarity with mechanical inspection practices and quality control processes.
  • Comfort working with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards in daily inspection tasks.

Work Environment

This role operates in an aerospace manufacturing and inspection environment, working with mechanical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment. The position follows a 9/80 alternative work schedule, with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and every other Friday off, offering a predictable daytime shift and regular extended weekends.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
