Safety Director

Shirley Parsons is partnering with a leading structural steel fabrication company in the Syracuse, NY area to identify their next Safety Director, offering the opportunity to lead and shape safety initiatives for a well-established and growing organization. The Safety Director will be responsible for driving a proactive safety culture by establishing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs throughout all operational and project environments.

The Role:

• Design, implement, and oversee safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), fall protection programs, confined space procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols.
• Develop and facilitate impactful safety training programs that promote compliance, enhance employee awareness, and surpass OSHA standards.
• Provide strategic leadership for company-wide safety initiatives, driving continuous improvement and supporting operational goals across the organization.
• Track and evaluate critical safety indicators, leveraging data-driven insights to improve safety outcomes and organizational performance.

The Candidate:

• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience. Previous experience within the structural steel fabrication industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510 and CSP/CHST certification preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, supported by strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
