Wings Credit Union is in the middle of the biggest data transformation in its history. After its merger, Wings is converting to a new core banking platform and moving its data warehouse into a Databricks lakehouse, with the new core going live in May 2028. About 80 percent of Wings data comes from the core, so this is a rare chance to design the data foundation the right way, once.

The Enterprise Data Architect is a senior individual contributor who owns the enterprise data architecture. They set the standards, patterns, and target-state designs, then partner with lakehouse engineering, BI, domain architects, governance, and security to make sure what gets built matches the design. Before a pipeline is built, this person documents how it will be built: what data comes in, why its needed, where it lives, and what governance and quality controls surround it.

The work is practical and starts right away. Early projects include the core and lakehouse migration, a long-term design for capturing critical regulatory fields the NCUA requires, and an enterprise-wide approach to TCPA consent management, which today is handled one request at a time. Over time, the architect gets involved in projects from day one so data is designed for how it will be used later instead of cleaned up after the fact. Theyll also help improve lineage, the data catalog, and data quality, and lay the groundwork for AI and natural language analytics. This role fits someone who leads by doing: they take ownership, schedule the conversations, drive decisions to a close, and keep designs simple enough for the business to use.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

8+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, database architecture, or analytics architecture, with 5+ years designing or influencing enterprise-scale data architectures. This is a design role with no hands-on coding.

Core tools and technologies:

Data modeling: conceptual, logical, physical, relational, dimensional

Modern data warehouse, data lake, and lakehouse architecture

Integration patterns: batch, APIs, files, event-driven, streaming

Data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality, security, and lifecycle management

Modern cloud data platforms

Evaluating complex designs and making clear architecture recommendations

Preferred:

Databricks / Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Azure

Financial services or regulated industry

Metadata, catalog, lineage, or data quality platforms

SQL, Python, Spark

Bachelors degree in CS, IS, or related field, or equivalent experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
