Packaging Operator

Job Description
The Packaging Operator works on a production line to package food flavor products safely, efficiently, and accurately. This role sets up and operates packaging equipment, follows strict sanitation and food safety procedures, and maintains detailed production and quality records while supporting a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Pack production batches according to established standards while monitoring equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Set up packaging equipment, transfer materials, and stage supplies and packaging materials in an organized and efficient manner.
- Follow sanitary guidelines, including clean-in-place (CIP) and other cleaning procedures, to maintain a hygienic production environment.
- Record production data and other required information accurately on specified forms and documents.
- Use an RF scanner to consume required materials and accurately report batch quantities.
- Learn and apply food safety concepts and understand their importance in producing safe, high-quality products.
- Observe product quality during packaging and promptly report any food or product quality issues to Shift Leads or Management.
- Perform inspections of packaging, labels, and finished products to ensure they meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Consistently perform assigned duties in a safe manner and follow all company safety policies, including forklift policies and PPE requirements.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing or general production environment.
- Prior packaging or packing experience on a production or packaging line.
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience in a regulated production environment.
- Ability to use an RF scanner to consume materials and track batch quantities accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks without errors or defects.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics for counts, measurements, and production reporting.
- Ability to manually lift up to 50 lbs. continuously when necessary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.40 - $19.14/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
