Job Title: Material Handler – Receiving DepartmentJob Description

This role is based in the receiving department and focuses on handling internal parts that support generator assembly lines. You will unload, organize, and move heavy metal parts from fabricators, place them on pallets and into designated rack locations, and then pull and deliver the required parts to assemblers on the production lines. Familiarity with automotive parts is highly beneficial, and the position combines physical material handling with basic inventory and data entry tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, unload, and handle heavy metal parts and sheet metal components delivered from fabricators.
  • Organize parts on pallets and transport pallets to designated rack locations according to rack numbers.
  • Pick, pull, and stage parts from bins and racks when requested by assembly lines, ensuring timely delivery to assemblers.
  • Load and unload trucks as needed to support shipping and receiving activities.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a safe and efficient manner, when trained and authorized.
  • Use RF scanners and computerized maintenance or inventory management systems (such as CMMS and SAP) to track inventory and record movements.
  • Perform inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory control tasks to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Conduct data entry related to inventory management using tools such as Microsoft Excel and other warehouse software.
  • Maintain organized storage areas, bins, and racks to ensure parts are easy to locate and access.
  • Follow established material handling, shipping, and receiving procedures to support smooth warehouse operations.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and best practices in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility, including proper lifting techniques for heavy parts.
  • Collaborate with assembly line staff and other warehouse team members to meet production needs and resolve material issues promptly.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of warehouse experience, ideally including equipment operation.
  • Experience with material handling, shipping, and receiving in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy metal and sheet metal parts safely throughout the shift.
  • Basic experience operating forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up models, or a strong willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with inventory control, inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory management processes.
  • Ability to use RF scanners and inventory systems such as CMMS and SAP for tracking and data entry.
  • Basic data entry skills and comfort working with Microsoft Excel for inventory-related tasks.
  • Ability to load and unload trucks and handle pallets and bins efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail when organizing parts, labeling, and placing items in correct rack locations.
  • Reliability in working a 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. shift with occasional voluntary Saturday overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with automotive parts and components used in generator assemblies.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility or production-support warehouse.
  • Comfort using warehouse technology such as RF scanners and computerized inventory systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse, ESL-friendly environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep pallets, racks, and bins neat and clearly arranged.
  • Willingness to learn additional equipment operation and inventory processes as needed.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, non–climate-controlled manufacturing facility in Olathe, Kansas, within a large, state-of-the-art production and warehouse space. You will work around generator assembly lines and warehouse racks, handling metal and sheet metal parts using pallets, forklifts, RF scanners, and inventory systems such as CMMS and SAP. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some voluntary Saturday overtime available during busy periods. The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with an emphasis on safety, proper material handling, and teamwork. Appropriate work attire for a manufacturing and warehouse setting is expected, including clothing and footwear suitable for handling heavy parts and operating equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
