Job Title: Janitorial Worker
Job Description
This role performs a full range of cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout a large, climate-controlled warehouse and associated office areas. You will clean restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, offices, and warehouse spaces, ensuring a safe, tidy, and hygienic environment for all occupants. The position requires continuous physical activity and the ability to work independently on an overnight shift.
Responsibilities
- Clean restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and partitions, and restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and tissue.
- Clean and tidy breakrooms by wiping surfaces, tables, and appliances, and ensuring trash is removed and replaced with new liners.
- Maintain cleanliness in hallways, offices, and warehouse areas by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting as needed.
- Pick up plastic, debris, and trash from warehouse floors and other areas to keep the facility safe and orderly.
- Dust surfaces, including high dusting areas, and wipe down poles, railings, and other fixtures throughout the facility.
- Mop floors in warehouse, hallways, and other assigned areas to maintain a clean and safe walking surface.
- Clean and restock bathrooms, ensuring they remain sanitary and fully supplied throughout the shift.
- Remove trash from designated areas, transport it to appropriate disposal locations, and replace bags in all receptacles.
- Tidy and clean offices, including emptying trash, dusting surfaces, and maintaining a neat appearance.

- Work safely around warehouse employees and moving equipment such as forklifts, following all safety rules and procedures.
- Communicate with supervisors via cell phone during the start of shift as needed, while remaining comfortable working independently.
- Participate in orientation and safety training on the first day and consistently apply all safety practices and dress code requirements.
Essential Skills
- Experience with janitorial, custodial, or cleaning work in facilities such as warehouses, offices, or similar environments.
- Ability to perform dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal to maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning and sanitation practices for restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, offices, and warehouse areas.
- Comfort working in a large facility around warehouse employees and moving equipment such as forklifts.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, twisting, standing, kneeling, and walking for the entire shift.
- Capability to work alone and stay productive without constant direct supervision.
- Customer service mindset, maintaining cleanliness standards that support a positive environment for building occupants.
- Reliability in following a set cleaning routine and completing tasks in an organized and timely manner.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and adhere to dress code requirements, including use of safety equipment.
- Possession of valid identification on the first day for orientation and onboarding.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in roles such as janitor, custodian, cleaner, floor technician, or environmental services (EVS) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with environmental service and sanitation standards in large facilities is an advantage.
- Comfort with busy work environments and the ability to remain focused throughout the shift.
- Experience working overnight or third-shift schedules is helpful.
- Strong self-motivation and time management skills to handle tasks independently.
- Willingness to follow detailed safety and appearance guidelines, including specific clothing and personal grooming requirements.

Work Environment
This role operates on a third shift schedule from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., Saturday through Wednesday. Work takes place inside a climate-controlled warehouse and associated office areas. Employees work independently throughout the shift, with direct contact to supervisors via cell phone when needed, and must be comfortable working without a team on-site. The shift typically begins with stocking cleaning supplies and materials, followed by moving to the warehouse floor to tidy and pick up debris, wiping down safety and directional lines, performing high dusting, mopping, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, taking out trash and replacing bags, and finishing with office cleaning. The first day includes orientation, safety training, and hands-on work on the floor, and valid identification is required on that day. Safety and appearance standards are strictly enforced: safety-toed shoes are required; safety vests and safety glasses are provided and must be worn; no jewelry, watches, or rings are permitted in the warehouse; clothing must be free of tears, with long pants required and no tank tops or hoodies; and hair must be maintained so it does not extend beyond the vest collar, with no sharp metal or hard plastic headbands allowed. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while working around warehouse personnel and equipment such as forklifts.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Shippensburg, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
