Evaluates cardiac patients, plans and implements a cardiac rehabilitation program. Completes established competencies for the position 
within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

General Functions:
 Demonstrates knowledge and skills required for EKG interpretation, taking and monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry and fitness equipment
 Administers appropriate treatments to patients
 Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory guidelines (AACVPR), best practices and standard Cardiac Rehabilitation care
 Fosters communication with nurses, doctors, patients and families and other hospital personnel to establish department rapport
 Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers ss well as input for performance appraisals.
 Maintains timely and accurate medical records
 Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
 Maintains safe environment
 Addresses patient population-specific needs
 Participates in Performance Improvement activities

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field from an accredited college or university
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 12 week internship in cardiac rehabilitation
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years experience with exercise prescription in a clinical setting
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: American College of Sports Medicine – Clinical Exercise Physiologist
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):
Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have 
AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
