Job Title: Structural Steel Layout Fitter

Job Description

As a Full Time Structural Steel Fitter Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in the construction process of structural metal products. Your main responsibilities will include laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting together fabricated parts according to blueprint and layout specifications. Safety is paramount, and you will be trained to operate overhead cranes and use cutting and heating torches properly. Your expertise will be utilized in accurately performing complex heat corrections, checking camber and sweep tolerances of beams and steel shapes, and making necessary corrections while adhering to pertinent codes and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts as per blueprint and layout specifications.
  • Operate overhead cranes and use cutting and heating torches safely.
  • Perform complex heat corrections and ensure camber and sweep tolerances of beams and steel shapes meet codes and specifications.
  • Produce finished products that meet recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices.
  • Set up complex jigs or assemblies and identify and correct potential hazards.
  • Interpret complex documents and perform daily cleaning and maintenance of work area.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in operating overhead cranes.
  • Experience in structural steel welding and fitting.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Skill in flux core welding on structural steel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with layout and fitting of structural steel.
  • Capability to set up complex jigs or assemblies.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a steel fabrication shop operating on a 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 5am to 2:30pm, with potential extended hours to 3:30pm and additional time on Saturdays from 5am to 10am. Employees must be comfortable working in a loud, heavy industrial setting where safety is a priority. The facility is equipped with overhead cranes throughout the structure, and employees will have their own welding station. Steel toe boots, safety glasses, and personal tools are required

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
