A leading industrial and metals distribution organization is seeking a Corporate Risk Manager to support a large, multi-site operation across North America. This person will be responsible for driving the strategic management of workers’ compensation, auto liability, and general liability claims while helping reduce overall loss costs and improve claim outcomes. The role offers significant visibility across Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and EHS functions, making it an excellent opportunity for a hands-on risk and claims professional looking to influence enterprise-wide risk performance. The successful candidate will serve as a key subject matter expert, ensuring claims are managed proactively, efficiently, and with strong financial discipline.

The Role

  • Lead the end-to-end management of workers’ compensation, automobile liability, and general liability claims, from initial reporting through final resolution.
  • Develop and execute claim strategies, evaluate reserves, negotiate settlements, identify recovery opportunities, and drive timely claim closure to minimize total cost of risk.
  • Partner with third-party administrators, insurers, legal counsel, investigators, and service providers to improve performance, accountability, and claim outcomes.
  • Analyze loss data, claims trends, and exposure information to identify risk drivers and recommend strategies that reduce claim frequency and severity.
  • Support insurance renewal activities, claims audits, forecasting, reporting, and senior leadership reviews while collaborating with EHS, Fleet Safety, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations teams.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience managing workers’ compensation and casualty claims, including automobile and general liability exposures and complex or high-severity matters.
  • Strong understanding of claims administration, reserving practices, settlement evaluation, risk transfer concepts, and multi-jurisdictional claim management.
  • Demonstrated success managing third-party administrators, adjusters, insurers, vendors, and other claims stakeholders while controlling loss costs.
  • Highly analytical and business-minded professional with strong communication skills, advanced Excel and reporting capabilities, and experience presenting recommendations to senior leadership. Professional designations such as ARM, CPCU, AIC, or similar credentials are viewed favorably.
