Director of Safety

Shirley Parsons is conducting a search on behalf of a prominent electrical contractor in the Buffalo, NY area for a Director of Safety to lead and enhance its safety function. The Director of Safety will lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the company’s safety programs to promote a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment.

The Role:

• Maintain and oversee all company safety records, safety documentation, and client portal requirements.
• Develop, implement, and oversee project-specific safety plans while ensuring consistent execution of safety programs and procedures in the field.
• Lead the creation, implementation, and management of company-wide safety initiatives and procedures.
• Provide strategic direction to the corporate safety function by overseeing the safety team and setting measurable goals and performance metrics to support continuous improvement.

The Candidate:

• 10+ years of safety and health experience, preferably within construction or electrical contracting environments, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
• OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510 and CSP/CUSP certification preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, supported by strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
