Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Job Description

This role involves working in a warehouse and metal distribution environment, using an overhead crane and other material-handling equipment to safely lift, move, and position structural steel beams and other materials. You will ensure loads are properly secured, maintain equipment in good condition, track inventory within your assigned bay, and accurately load customer trucks based on order sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads safely and efficiently within the warehouse.
  • Verify that each load is securely attached, properly balanced, and within the crane’s lifting limits before and during movement.
  • Load the beds of customer trucks (including semis) with structural steel beams and other materials according to order sheets and instructions.
  • Track and manage inventory within your assigned bay, ensuring accurate counts and proper placement of materials.
  • Use warehouse equipment such as forklifts or electric pallet jacks to move materials as needed.
  • Handle materials, perform order picking, and stage products for shipment or further processing.
  • Use RF scanners or similar devices to track inventory movements and maintain accurate records.
  • Keep the crane and related equipment clean, inspected, and well maintained, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the metal distribution center.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of general warehouse experience, including material handling and order picking.
  • Comfort working around and handling structural steel beams and other heavy materials.
  • Strong attention to safety, including verifying load security and respecting lifting limits.
  • Ability to work effectively in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a small team.

Why Work Here?

You will have the opportunity to learn a valuable new skill—overhead crane operation—even if you do not have prior crane experience, supported by structured on-the-job training. The company offers a benefits package that includes coverage of 70% of your premiums, a 1% 401(k) match up to 4%, and a yearly 5% bonus added to your 401(k), helping you build long-term financial security. The role offers a clear path to permanent employment in as little as 90 days, providing stability and room for growth. You will work in a small, tight-knit team environment where hands-on work and skill development are central to the culture.

Work Environment

The role is based in a metal distribution center and warehouse environment. The facility is not temperature controlled, so the indoor temperature generally matches outdoor conditions due to trucks driving in and out throughout the day, though the workspace is described as relatively clean for a metal distribution operation. You will work on either a first shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or second shift (4:00 PM – 11:30 PM), alongside a small team of approximately 2–3 people. The work involves regular use of overhead cranes, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and RF scanners to handle structural steel beams and other materials. The dress code requires protective footwear such as steel-toed boots, along with jeans and a work shirt, reflecting the industrial and safety-focused nature of the environment.
